Meet the Venturer: The Ultimate Inflatable Canoe for Real Adventures
Whether you’re navigating winding rivers, gliding across remote lakes, or heading out on a wild weekend escape, the new Wave Venturer is built to take you there, and beyond. Rugged, stable, and designed for the kind of expeditions most inflatables can’t handle, the Venturer isn’t just a canoe. It’s a call to the wild.
We handed the Venturer over to Wave Ambassador and outdoor instructor Rhys Garrard, who took it on a two-day expedition across Scotland. His verdict? “It’s extraordinary, truly an adventure-ready craft I can recommend with confidence.”
Designed for the Untamed
From backcountry lochs to twisty river trails, the Venturer is made for paddlers who go off-grid. Its triple-chamber, high-pressure construction (inflating up to 15 PSI) keeps you high above the waterline while offering incredible stability, even when you’re facing metre-high swells.
Built from military-grade PVC with a UV-resistant coating and drop-stitch core, this canoe is more than ready for rocky landings and rugged conditions. Rhys tested it on hard Scottish terrain, dragging it from lock to lock and reported zero scuffs or punctures. “This isn’t a messing-around inflatable,” he said. “It’s a serious craft, and it holds up.”
Room to Roam With Company or Gear
Whether you’re paddling solo with a pack, out with your partner, or bringing the kids along, the Venturer has the space you need. Its three adjustable wooden bench seats provide comfort and flexibility, with enough legroom for three adults, a rarity among inflatable canoes.
And when you need to pack for a longer journey? Multiple storage zones, including front and rear bungees, give you space to bring everything you need for the day (or the weekend). As Rhys put it: “With two people and a gear load, this thing is ready to go the distance.”
Glide, Track, and Turn with Confidence
The Venturer comes with two removable fins for smooth tracking and added stability. Rhys noted their excellent performance, especially in rougher conditions, but also highlighted that users tackling shallower rivers might prefer to swap them for shorter or flexible river fins (a quick and easy switch).
Despite its size (14 ft long), the Venturer turns easily, and when fully loaded with two paddlers, becomes “a force to be reckoned with.” It’s fast, responsive, and easy to control even for less experienced paddlers.

Rhys also appreciated the elevated seating position, which gives a more authentic canoe feel. “It feels premium, like the kind of kit you’re proud to own,” he shared.
